Master’s Admission Announcement for Batch 2, 2021 (Registration Deadline: December 5, 2021)
The Institute of Postgraduate Education, Hoa Sen University, announces the Master’s Admission for Batch 2, 2021, offering majors in Business Administration (MBA), English Language (MAE), and Tourism and Hospitality Management (MA Tourism). The admission process is based on the Undergraduate GPA and the submission of an entrance essay. Applications are accepted from October 15, 2021, to December 5, 2021.

II. ADMISSION METHODS: ADMISSION BY EXAMINATION
- Eligibility:
1.1. General Requirements:
Candidates must have graduated from universities with quality-assured programs assessed by international organizations or recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
1.2. Requirements for Degrees and Work Experience:
Major in Business Administration:
Regarding the Degree: Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Have a bachelor’s degree in related fields other than Business Administration from domestic or foreign universities recognized by MOET, and have completed required additional courses (refer to the attached list of Supplementary Courses) before the school issues the exam admission ticket.
Regarding Work Experience: Candidates must have at least two years of work experience as of the enrollment date for candidates from different majors. If the work experience is less, the Admissions Committee will consider the application. No work experience is required for candidates graduating in the same major or related fields.
Major in English Language:
Have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English Language or Literature.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in majors such as English Pedagogy, Applied Linguistics, American Literature, Comparative Linguistics, American Studies, English Studies, or English Translation at domestic or foreign universities recognized by MOET; or hold a bachelor’s degree in majors such as Linguistics, Educational Management, Cultural Studies, Psychology, Education Management graduated from foreign universities and trained in English, recognized by MOET, and have completed required additional courses (refer to the attached list of Supplementary Courses) before the school issues the exam admission ticket.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in other majors from domestic or foreign universities recognized by MOET, and have one of the following English language certificates: TOEIC with a score of 600 or above, IELTS with a score of 5.5 or above, or TOEFL iBT with a score of 60 or above; or have a bachelor’s degree or higher in other majors trained full-time abroad in English, recognized by MOET, and have completed required additional courses (refer to the attached list of Supplementary Courses) before the school issues the exam admission ticket.
Major in Tourism and Hospitality Management:
Regarding the Degree: Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Restaurant Management, or related majors.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Vietnamese Studies, Management Science, Cultural Management, Business Administration, or other majors at domestic or foreign universities recognized by MOET, and have completed required additional courses (refer to the attached list of Supplementary Courses) before the school issues the exam admission ticket.
Regarding Work Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of work experience in a relevant field for candidates graduating in a related major, or three years of continuous work experience in the tourism industry for candidates graduating in other majors (counted from the date of signing the Decision to Recognize the Bachelor’s Degree to the exam date and have completed additional courses to reach the equivalent level of a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. If the work experience is less, the Admissions Committee will consider the type of Degree to decide).
1.3. Other Requirements: Applicable to all majors

- Submit a complete application dossier within the prescribed deadline of the school.

2.1. Information on Classification and Graduation Scores of Applicants at the undergraduate level (Maximum assessment score: 45 points)
- From 5.0 to 5.9: 25 points
- From 6.0 to 6.9: 30 points
- From 7.0 to 7.9: 35 points
- From 8.0 to 8.9: 40 points
- From 9.0 to 10.0: 45 points
2.2. Master’s Entrance Essay: Candidates choose 1 of 2 topics according to the requirements of the registered major to complete the essay (from 2000 to 5000 words). The essay is scored on a maximum scale of 50 points with the following criteria:
- Essay structure
- Information synthesis skills
- Analytical and argumentative skills
- Creativity
For the Business Administration Major:
- Topic 1: Explain why you continue your academic path with the MBA program and outline your future career direction after completing this Master’s program.
- Topic 2: With your knowledge of Business Administration, analyze the impact and consequences of the Covid pandemic on Vietnamese businesses. In your opinion, what should businesses do to improve their business situation and development in the next phase?
For the English Language Major:
Share your ideas with examples to illustrate: (choose 1 of the following topics)
- Topic 1: The ways we use a language depend strongly on the relationships between partners in communication.
- Topic 2: It is said that languages develop only in human society to meet the demands of human beings.
For the Tourism and Hospitality Management Major:
Topic 1: Explain why you continue your academic path with the MA in Tourism and Hospitality Management program and outline your future career direction after completing this Master’s program.
Topic 2: With your knowledge of tourism, analyze the impact and consequences of the Covid pandemic on tourism in Vietnam. In your opinion, what should Vietnam do to improve the current tourism situation?
2.3. Other Criteria (not compulsory): National awards (5 points), participation in scientific articles recognized by reputable organizations (5 points), having a Master’s or Ph.D. degree awarded by reputable international training institutions or recognized domestic training institutions (5 points). The maximum additional score is 15 points. After adding up the scores, the final assessment score should not exceed 100 points (if exceeded, it will be rounded up to 100 points).
2.4. For the Foreign Language Subject: Candidates participate in a foreign language proficiency assessment exam organized by the school or are exempted from the foreign language subject examination according to item 2.5 in this section.
2.5. Conditions for exemption from the foreign language exam: Candidates attending the admissions examination meet one of the following conditions to be exempted from the Foreign Language subject:
- Hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree trained full-time abroad, recognized by competent authorities according to current regulations.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in an advanced program under the Ministry of Education and Training’s Project on training advanced programs at some universities in Vietnam or hold a high-quality engineer degree (PFIEV) recognized by the Engineer Accreditation Commission (CTI, France), with foreign partners issuing the degree.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in foreign language majors from foreign universities.
- Hold a foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 3 or above according to the MOET’s 6-level foreign language proficiency framework, based on the conversion table below, within 02 years from the date of issuance of the language certificate to the exam registration date for the master’s degree, issued by institutions permitted or recognized by MOET. The Principal must assess and be responsible for the authenticity of the language certificate before recognizing its equivalence.

- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher conferred by the educational institution within the past 2 years, meeting the program’s English language proficiency requirement at level 3 or above according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam.
- Foreign applicants applying for Vietnamese-taught programs must achieve Vietnamese proficiency at level 4 or above according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, or have graduated from a Vietnamese-taught program and meet the second language proficiency requirement as specified by the institution (if applicable).

- Confirmation of Equivalent Degree: For degrees obtained from foreign educational institutions.
- Undergraduate Transcript: Clearly stating course names, hours, and grades.
- Work Experience Confirmation: Required for certain fields (sample provided).
- Personal Resume: With photo, confirmed by the current employer or local authorities (sample provided).
- Supplementary Transcript: For applicants with undergraduate degrees in a related or different field from the program they are applying for.
- Language Proficiency Certificate: If available.
- Priority Confirmation Documents: If applicable.
- Three 3×4 Photos: Taken within the last 6 months, with name and date of birth written on the back, placed in an envelope.
- Birth Certificate: Additional documents may be submitted upon enrollment.
