EXTENSIVE READING THAT ENGAGES LEARNERS

HOA SEN UNIVERSITY – 05 & 16 September, 2018

8, Nguyen Van Trang Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, HCMC, VN

The Extensive Reading Conference will inform participants (both students and lecturers) of what extensive reading is and its sustainable benefits. Extensive Reading itself can engage language learners with interesting and easy-to-read books (graded readers) towards their reading skills and reading habit. Participants will have chance to talk to Prof. Thomas N. Robb – one of the executive members of the Extensive Reading Foundation and administrator of MReader (Kyoto Sangyo University, Japan). MReader.org is currently hosting around 6000 quizzes, and used by universities from Japan, South Africa, UAE, Oman, Vietnam, Taiwan, Turkey, USA, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Qatar, Kuwait, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

In addition, representatives from University of Information Technology and Hoa Sen University will share their hands-on experience of implementing an Extensive Reading program at their institutions. It is never too hard for other universities or colleges to launch a similar scheme.
