A FEW TIPS TO EXPERIENCE THE SEN’ S CLASSROOM OF THE NEW VALEDICTORIAN
During the 38th Graduation Ceremony, representing nearly 1500 students, the new valedictorian Le Thi Phuong Lan delivered an impressive speech and promise. Besides inspiring and proud of the four words “Hoa Sen students” and also making Hoa Sen always proud of you, Lan’s words really touched the hearts of many people, evoking the youthful time in the beautiful lecture hall. The video of Lan’s speech posted on the fanpage of Hoa Sen University received over a thousand shares and countless comments of praise, admiration and best wishes to the New Graduate.
Confidence, intelligence, and a young, inspirational leadership style are the factors that make Phuong Lan’s speech capture everyone’s hearts.
It is known that Phuong Lan was accepted into the English studies major, Hoa Sen University with a 50% Talent scholarship. Not only achieving good academic results, Lan also actively participated in competitions and community activities, thereby achieving remarkable achievements such as the certificate of excellent participation in the Spring Swallow 2017 program, the second prize of the Faculty’s Dare you teach English contest.
Sharing about the secret of learning, Phuong Lan candidly talks about the mistakes she has concluded and overcomes, Because the principles to achieve success will have something in common, and the mistakes that lead to failure are different for each person.
- Do not focus on listening to lectures: “At first, because the house was far from school, Lan often came to class late or studied in early shift, so it was easy to fall asleep, leading to the loss of some knowledge or not being able to record the content of the lesson, so when I go home, I have to spend more time reviewing books and asking friends. Especially when studying online, you will easily lose focus due to using your phone or surfing social networks. Lan realized that in any class, when she listens attentively to the teacher’s lecture to understand what the teacher is saying, Lan will remember it longer because she remembers both images and sounds, and her brain also processes information at that moment to turn it into her knowledge, to understand in her own way. To overcome this situation, Lan often sits at the front desk to focus on studying and listen to the teacher’s lectures more clearly. Sometimes during the lecture, the teacher even “hints” the test questions, if you don’t hear it, you’ll be “miss” it.
- Afraid to talk to the teacher: “Since the teacher is the grader, I need to know what the teacher wants from each assignment or project. To achieve good results, you should share your ideas and collect feedback from teachers before starting to work. In this way, teachers will help us orient ourselves and be able to adjust the lesson in time instead of waiting for the final report date and receiving ” frowns” from the teacher.
- Think you can “carry the team”, do it yourself or someone will “carry me”: “For many of you, because you want to complete the assignment, you always do it on behalf of others, so you will lack the ability to divide the work. Later, when you go to work, you will easily feel exhausted because you cannot do all the work for others. In fact, each person has a strength, if Lan finds it difficult in this part, you will be able to exploit that strength. That way, everyone will be able to contribute to the completion, but in the end, no one will feel unfair because they have to carry anyone. For those of you who often rely on good teammates, later, if you don’t work in the same group as that person anymore, you will easily see the difference and fear. So from now on, be your own fulcrum. Be responsible for your work and complete what you are assigned.”
Hopefully, some of the valedictorian’s tips will help our Sen-ers overcome the deadlines and upcoming exams.
