Workshop on Community-Based Learning: A New Era in Higher Education
“Learning through service to the community”, “Learning with the community” (English: Service-Learning – SL) is a concept widely used in universities in the US since the 1990s and then spread in developed countries around the world. In Vietnam, the SL model is being interested by a number of universities, in which, Hoa Sen University (HSU) is one of the first higher education institutions in Vietnam to research and introduce the SL model. Teaching since 2015.
Up to now, HSU is applying 5 models of Service-Learning, including: Service Learning Classroom (SLC), Service-Learning Project (SLA), Service-Learning Project (SLI), Service-Learning International Project (ISL), and the Overseas Service-Learning (OSL) Project with a number of subjects and projects that have been and are being implemented, receiving positive feedback from students, community partners, and lecturers participation”.
The school’s faculty and staff, the Service-Learning Center, the Department of Scientific Research and International Affairs, organized the Workshop “Learning with the Community – A New Wave in Higher Education” with the following information:
