In the first session (9:00-10:30), Dr. Doan Minh Chau from FEC, Hoa Sen University will share her research topic “Co-creation process in service recovery via social media: examples of critical cases in Vietnam”. Social media is currently one of the most popular research topics and Dr.Chau’s discussions will help us understand how social media may influence service recovery process.

Abstract:

Witnessed the raising trend and increasing popularity of social media, business firms nowadays have an useful gate to expand their interaction and communications with customers. Not only customers want to collaborate in the process of creating services, but they also want to have a fair and congruent dialog with firms when service failures happen. Although the viral of the social media does give a huge potential for firms to recover the service from catastrophes, it can cause serious issues if executives eschew or ignore appropriate interactions with consumers. This paper shows the examples of critical cases in managing the co-creation process in service recovery via social media in Vietnam, giving implications for firms when they face the crisis and how they can survive in the social media ecology.

In the second session (from 10:30), Ms. Do Thi Thanh Thuy from the General Education Program, Hoa Sen University will share her research on “Assessing the impact of rural-urban migration and environment-induced resettlement programs on rural development in the context of the National Target Program on the New Rural Development”. This will be particularly useful for ones who are interested in development topics.

Abstract:

For the past decade, rural areas in Viet Nam have seen extraordinary development in many aspects, especially since the implementation of the NTP-NRD. Positive changes are most evident in infrastructure in general and road transport in particular. Though Long An is an agricultural province in the Mekong Delta and its area accounts for almost half of the low-lying Plain of Reeds, the province, particularly the districts adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City like Ben Luc and Duc Hoa, has witnessed many accomplishments in agriculture and industrialization, thanks to its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City. The employment structure has shifted towards a declining share of agriculture while income of the residents has increased. These processes have interrelated links with the rural-urban labour migration and the construction of flood-proof residential clusters and dykes. This research focused on exploring the sectors and mechanisms through which the links between migration, resettlement and rural development are established.
