The Future Chef 2023 contest officially kicked off with the theme “Traditional Meal”
With the desire to remind young people about family meals and traditional culinary values, , the project of students of Hoa Sen University (HSU) has returned with a meaningful theme: “Preserving and developing Vietnamese cuisine – TRADITIONAL MEALS. The kick-off ceremony of the contest was held on May 19 at Hall 204.
The Future Chef Contest is a project organized by students of the Faculty of Hospitality HSU. After 10 seasons with many achievements, TFC has left a mark in the hearts of food lovers, especially with the event of Setting a Vietnam Record with the culinary map model of season 10. Returning for the 11th time, TFC hopes to bring messages about traditional culinary values instead of convenient fast meals, develop and elevate dishes to a new level. This year’s contest with the slogan “PRESERVE THE PAST – CREATE THE FUTURE”. In particular, in season 11, this year the contest will expand its audience not only to students, trainees, chefs but also to students who have a passion for food.
Le Minh Thu – Head of the Organizing Committee of The Future Chef Contest 2023 shared the reason for expanding the contestant: TFC was originally a competition for all those who love food, but over the years the competition has become professional, so most of the participants are students or chefs. This year, with the close theme of “Traditional Meal”, the organizers want young people and students to participate without too much cooking technique or expertise, and at the same time, the organizers also want to spread the values of Vietnamese family meal culture to young people.”
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐟 2023 has a total of 3 rounds, including: Round 1 – Preliminary round – Online exam (May – June); Round 2 – Immersive Vietnamese flavor – Offline (Expected mid-July); Round 3 – GALA Finals – Elevate traditional meals – Offline (Mid-August). The competition is divided into 2 groups: Young chefs and students. The best contestants of Round 1 will be divided into a group appropriate to their age, aspirations and each group will have its own marking criteria.
Nguyen Van Khang, a contestant from Can Tho who was present at the launch ceremony of the contest shared: “I participated in the contest in 2019, however, at that time, I had no experience, so I was eliminated early. This year, I am determined to return to conquer the competition. I find FAMILY MEAL a close subject but not easy. I hope I will learn a lot of skills and knowledge from the teachers and colleagues from the competition.”
