HSU kicks off the project “The Guiding Star” on tourist guides for students nationwide
With rounds built between theory and practice, The Guiding Star attracted nearly 100 contestants with passion for travel across the country to participate. This morning (2/8), the launching ceremony and preliminary round of the competition took place at HSU’s Nguyen Van Trang Headquarters.
The Guiding Star is a contest organized by students of Hoa Sen University’s Faculty of Hospitality exclusively for young people who are passionate about the tourism industry and want to become future Tour Guides. First held in 2018, from a student project, up to now, the contest has received the attention and participation of many contestants in all provinces and cities across the country.
This year, the contest attracted nearly 100 contestants from schools such as Da Nang Tourism College, East Asia University, Yersin University Dalat, Duy Tan University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Industry and Trade, Ton Duc Thang University… Among them are some contestants who have participated in The Guiding Star competition in previous seasons, there are also contestants who have won high prizes from competitions on tour guides at universities but still want to conquer The Guiding Star 2023.
Nguyen Ngoc Bich Loan, student of Ton Duc Thang University, who won the first prize at the tour guide contest of the University of Industry and Trade said: “Each competition will have different requirements and ways of organizing. or because the previous competitions I participated in were more about theory and presentation, with The Guiding Star, we experienced and practiced through workshop rounds, leading tours on the car and leading at the spot. That’s what makes me continue to conquer this competition.”
The Guiding Star 2023 consists of the following rounds: Preliminary Round: Multiple-choice and theoretical exams; Conquest Round: Presentation, talent and situational handling; Semi-final workshop: On-board narrative, on-site demonstration and team building; Final Gala: Visual narration, group talent.
