Internal assessment for English Language Studies program

Over two days, on December 1st and 2nd, 2018, at the Nguyen Van Trang Main Campus of Hoa Sen University, the Center for Higher Education Research and Accreditation in collaboration with the Department of English and American Studies successfully organized an internal assessment for the English Language Studies program according to AUN-QA standards.

The internal assessment involved the participation of two experienced experts in the field of quality assurance and accreditation. The English Language Studies program is the first program of Hoa Sen University to be assessed according to AUN-QA standards, thus it received significant attention from the university’s leadership. Attendees at the assessment session included Mr. Luu Tien Hiep – Former President of the university, Mr. Nguyen Trong Duy – Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Head of the Foreign Languages Faculty, Ms. Phan Thi Viet Nam – Head of the Center for Higher Education Research and Accreditation, Mr. Nguyen Thu Huong – Head of the Department of English and American Studies, faculty members from the department, and staff from various units within the university.

After two serious diligent days (December 1st – 2nd), the internal assessment team conducted surveys and assessments according to the official AUN-QA process, including activities such as listening to reports from the programs, examining documentary evidence, interviewing relevant stakeholders (including department leaders, the self-assessment team, program lecturers, students, support staff, alumni, businesses), on-site observations at the main campus, and working directly with staff responsible for specialized tasks at functional divisions for the program assessment according to AUN-QA standards.

Through this internal assessment, the Department and the University were able to identify achievements and areas needing improvement to enhance the academic quality. It also helped the Department to perfect the self-assessment process and be ready for the official site visit by AUN-QA in April 2019.
